Stripe payouts and application fees

Why your Stripe payout is less than the RoundTab total, and where fees appear in reports.

Understanding Stripe Payouts and Application Fees

This guide explains how RoundTab handles payments through Stripe, including application fees and how they affect your payouts.

How Stripe Payments Work

When a customer pays through RoundTab:

  1. The total amount is processed through Stripe
  2. Stripe deducts their processing fee
  3. RoundTab deducts the application fee
  4. The remaining amount is paid out to your bank account

Understanding Application Fees

The application fee is a percentage of the total transaction amount that RoundTab charges for using the platform. This fee is:

  • Calculated on the total amount (including service charges and tips)
  • Deducted automatically by Stripe
  • Visible in your RoundTab reports
  • Shown separately in your Stripe dashboard

For example, if you have a £100 order:

  • Total charged to customer: £100
  • Application fee (e.g. 2.9%): £2.90
  • Amount you receive: £97.10

Why Stripe Payouts Don't Match RoundTab Totals

Your Stripe payouts will be less than your RoundTab totals because:

  1. Application Fees: RoundTab's fee is deducted from each transaction
  2. Stripe Processing Fees: Stripe's standard processing fees are also deducted
  3. Refunds: Any refunds processed will reduce your payout
  4. Failed Payments: Failed or incomplete payments won't be included in payouts
  5. Payout Schedule: There may be a delay between transactions and payouts

Reconciling Your Accounts

To reconcile your RoundTab reports with your bank account:

  1. Use RoundTab Reports to see:

    • Total sales
    • Application fees charged
    • Service charges collected
    • Tips received
  2. Use Stripe Dashboard to see:

    • Actual payouts received
    • Stripe processing fees
    • Refund history
    • Payout schedule

Common Questions

Because both RoundTab's application fee and Stripe's processing fees are deducted before the payout. The total in RoundTab shows your gross sales, while Stripe shows your net payout.

Q: How can I track my application fees?

Application fees are shown in:

  • Your RoundTab daily reports
  • The RoundTab dashboard
  • Your Stripe dashboard under "Application Fees"

Q: When will I receive my payouts?
